The year is 2027 and after two decades of human infertility, society is on the brink of collapse and the government of the United Kingdom has become totalitarian. Not all hope is lost however, as former activist turned cynical bureaucrat Theo Faron (Clive Owen) must transport the world’s only pregnant woman to safety from harsh governmental policies. Based on the 1992 P.D. James' novel, this dystopian action thriller, directed by Alfonso Cuarón, was recognized for its achievements in screenwriting, art direction, and cinematography. Peering into the near future, Children of Men remains culturally relevant for its depiction of war, police states, and the fierce determination of humanity.
