After an affair gone wrong, Roxie Hart (Renée Zellweger) gets sentenced to death row where she meets her idol, vaudeville performer Velma Kelly (Catherine Zeta-Jones). There, the murderesses develop a fierce rivalry competing for publicity, their next big performance, and the attention of Chicago’s hottest sleazebag lawyer, Billy Flynn (Richard Gere), to keep them from the gallows. Celebrated for its star-studded cast, incredible dance numbers, and award-winning vocal performance, the film adaptation of Chicago earned 6 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, establishing its tale of gender, imprisonment, and 1920s America as one for the ages.

This screening will be followed by a panel discussion with MU researchers.
