In 1950s Baltimore, Wade “Cry-Baby” Walker (Johnny Depp), whose moniker comes from his ability to shed a single tear, leads the town’s “drapes”, a group of juvenile delinquents. Looking to shed her status as a “square,” prim and proper Allison Vernon-Williams (Amy Locane) approaches Cry-Baby and the two fall for each other. Their relationship disrupts the town’s long-standing division between the drapes and the squares, sparking dramatic confrontations throughout the city. A riotous send-up of 1950s teen flicks, John Waters’ cult classic is filled with off-the-wall comedy, unique costumes, and catchy musical numbers.
