Fading movie star Bob Harris (Bill Murray) is in Tokyo filming a whiskey commercial. Newlywed Charlotte (Scarlet Johansson) is in Tokyo with her workaholic, neglectful photographer husband. When Bob and Charlotte cross paths at the hotel bar, the lonely pair find solace in one another adrift in an unfamiliar landscape.
