As part of our Ragtag Rewind series, this special fundraiser screening will revisit the first film ever screened at Ragtag Cinema. As this is a fundraiser event, there is a suggested donation of $25 at check-out. Twenty-five years after that first screening, we invite you to join us at the Missouri Theatre to celebrate the past, present and future of Ragtag.
The small town of Blaine, Missouri, is getting ready to celebrate their 150th anniversary by staging a musical retelling of the town’s origin story. Former “off-off-off-off-Broadway” director Corky St. Clair is enlisted to helm the project and local amateur thespians audition to be a part of his vision. The ragtag cast includes a local dentist (Eugene Levy), a couple of travel agents (Fred Willard and Catherine O’Hara),and a Dairy Queen waitress (Parker Posey) and they start to dream big when Corky invites a Broadway producer to their opening night performance. Made in Christopher Guest’s signature mockumentary style, Waiting for Guffman is an hilarious and heart-warming ode to small town life, the power of community and pursuing your passion.
