First screened at Ragtag Cinema in June 2003, Aleksandr Sokurov’s Russian Ark is the first feature-length narrative film shot in a single take. Marking a new frontier in filmmaking, Russian Ark is filmed from the point-of-view of an unseen narrator who travels through Russian history as he explores the State Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg and witnesses the waning days of the Russian aristocracy. Selected for Ragtag Rewind by Ragtag Cinema’s Lead Projectionist Steve Ruffin.
