Orphaned and displaced during the Second Sudanese Civil War, siblings Jeremiah (Ger Duany), Mamere (Arnold Oceng), Paul (Emmanuel Jal), and Abital (Kuoth Wiel) spend their adolescence in a refugee camp. After winning a relocation lottery to the United States, Abital is placed with a family in Boston while her brothers are sent to Kansas City. Shocked by this separation and struggling with a new culture, the brothers find support in Carrie (Reese Witherspoon), a brash employment counselor going beyond her job description. This screening will be followed by a community conversation led by the City of Refuge, exploring topics such as refugee resettlement and family reunification.
