During a visit to Prague in 1938, London broker Nicholas ‘Nicky’ Winton (Johnny Flynn) organizes the evacuation of predominantly Jewish children before the Nazi occupation closes Czechoslovakia’s borders. Fifty years later, Nicky (Anthony Hopkins) reflects on the impact of his humanitarian efforts as he continues to work on behalf of refugee communities. A dramatization of the real-life efforts of Nicholas ‘Nicky’ Winton, One Life is a moving portrait of individual courage. This screening will be followed by a community conversation led by City of Refuge exploring topics such as the power of individual action and refugees in world history.
