Forced to flee with his family during the aftermath of the Vietnam War, Kit (Henry Golding) returns to Vietnam nearly thirty years later to find an ideal place to scatter his parents’ ashes. Confronted with feeling like a tourist in his home country and shouldering the responsibility of selecting his parents’ final resting place, Kit embarks on a journey of self-discovery where he connects with estranged family members, pursues romance with American fashion designer Lewis (Parker Sawyers), and reconciles present-day Vietnam with his memory. This screening will be followed by a community conversation led by Mixed at Mizzou that will explore topics such as diaspora and migration, self-identity, and internal conflict.
