Located in mid-Missouri, Ragtag Cinema is no stranger to weird weather–strange, natural phenomena that perplexes the mind and reorients daily life. From snow in spring to natural disasters to the looming reality of the New Madrid Seismic Zone, mid-Missouri residents have experienced the many meanings of being weathered: worn down by long exposure to atmospheric changes; the ability to withstand difficulty; and experiencing bodily changes due to societally-induced hazards. Placing our local experiences of being weathered in conversation with global cinema, this season of Science on Screen presents five films that depict and complicate the experience of living with weird weather.
