Details About the Film

This film is part of the series Ragtag Classic Movies

Regarded as one of the finest silent film comedies, Charlie Chaplin’s The Gold Rush celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2025. A lone prospector (Charlie Chaplin) ventures to the Klondike with a pickaxe, a frying pan, and a dream during the 1890s gold rush. Hoping to strike it big but struggling with the perilous elements, Chaplin’s Little Tramp finds romance with a beautiful dancer (Georgia Hale). Featuring some of Chaplin's most famous gags such as the boiled shoe dinner and the cabin falling off a cliff’s edge, The Gold Rush cemented Chaplin’s skills as both a filmmaker and performer. The Gold Rush screens on a restored 35mm print.
