Now in its fifth year, the Show Me Series is a co-curatorial endeavor between Ragtag Cinema and its four Community Partners. Every screening is followed by a community conversation, taking the discourse beyond content to interrogate form, intention, and reaction. The Show Me Series is free to the public, allowing all members of Columbia’s communities to participate without financial barriers. All films are co-curated with the month’s featured Community Partner and are screened at Ragtag Cinema, save for the annual Show Me True/False, which offers reduced-price tickets to one screening during True/False and features an extended community discussion with filmmakers.
Ragtag Film Society is pleased to announce four new Community Partners for its award-winning monthly Show Me Series:
This cohort of Community Partners will work with Ragtag Film Society for the next two years, using this opportunity to share their mission and their work within the community. This slate of Community Partners allows the Show Me Series to explore today's pressing social issues such as the role of agriculture and land stewardship, how race structures society and institutions, the value of history and archives, and how governance and public policy shape our daily lives.
Last year, Ragtag Film Society received the Columbia Values Diversity Award for its Show Me Series programming. Ragtag Cinema and True/False Film Fest share a mission of inclusivity, recognizing that to create a diverse, inclusive, and intellectually vibrant community, it must understand and value both individual differences and collective similarities.
“We are thrilled to work with another cohort of Community Partners, and we are excited to see what these partners bring to our arthouse theater. The Show Me Series remains an important feature of the Columbia community because of its commitment to bridging the gap between art and social issues through innovative and collaborative programming,” says Ouma Amadou, Cinema Programmer & Community Partnerships Coordinator.
CCUA works to enhance our community’s health by connecting people to agriculture and the land through hands-on learning opportunities, from seed to plate.
