Notes from the attic: Parade
We watched Parade (1974) in movie club sometime ago. Jacques Tati's last film -- a made-for-TV variety show full of standup, circus magicians, jugglers and clowns. It's a lot of fun for the whole family. A great way to introduce Tati to the younger ones.

Wow, you forget sometimes how bad movies can be. Fortunately, Mystery Science Theater 3000 is there to remind you and salvage the wreckage. We watched The Pumaman (1998) a couple months back in movie club. (Here's the 1980 film link sans funny.) Tony Farms is just a regular old handsome scientist, but one day he's […]

Ragtag will be open for the Monday holiday. Uprise Bakery's kitchen will be closed, but their bar will be open for our movies. Give that bartender a big wet one. This means the north side of Hittsville will open at 5pm (one half hour before the first show). 9th Street Video will be open as […]

We watched this twisty mystery-thriller from Dario Agento a while back in movie club. After a writer witnesses an attempted murder whilst out on an evening stroll, someone wants him dead, too. Pretty great (the movie, not the murder attempts). 1970.

You asked and we heard you – we will be opening Awake: The Life of Yogananda, an unconventional biography about the East Indian mystic who brought yoga and meditation to the West in the 1920s, on Friday the 29th.

Roar (1981) is what you get when big-cat-obsessed filmmakers make what is essentially a 17-million-dollar home movie: pure insanity ... and lots of big-cat wrestling and puncture wounds. The plot doesn't even matter (and frankly doesn't make sense anyway). Come see the weirdest, wildest movie we'll screen this year and wonder, like we did, how […]

We're opening Far from the Madding Crowd a week earlier than we expected! Come see it with us starting Friday, May 22. Based on the classic novel by Thomas Hardy, it's the story of the independent and headstrong Bathsheba Everdene (Cary Mulligan, An Education) who attracts three very different suitors: Gabriel Oak, (Matthias Schoenaerts, Rust and […]
